Commercial tax on a jeep

    Hi,
I've been reading up on how to get commercial tax on a commercial jeep even though I do not own a business or have a heard number. And there seems to be alot of different opinions on it. I'm looking at buying a jeep soon and want to tax it commercially (for obvious reasons!!). when I buy it do I need to declare it then that it will be used as commercially or will it be ok for when I tax it first? Also, can I use my brothers VAT number for his business and if so does the jeep need to be in his companys name or his? Or would I be better using his heard number? Any help would be great!! Thanks in advance!

you'll have to sign a declaration before you tax it that you will only use it for commercial purposes. A false declaration is quite serious of you come unstuck. The form asks for details of your Family Car that you have available for your private use

If you can get the person you are buying it off to tax if for the year that would be the handiest way to start off and you won't need to worry about how to tax it for a year.

    The standard form doesn't.
I believe the new crewcab declaration might.

Sorry, but asking here about how to circumvent the law isn't ok.
