    Hello

I am looking for some advice if possible. I have applied to be registered on the Teaching Council. I am just wondering though will my qualifications be enough to register.
I have an Honours Business Degree and i have the JEB Teaching Diploma in IT and the FETAC level 6 Trainer the Trainer Certificate. I am looking to register as an Adult Education Teacher.
I have two years experience in the Adult Education sector.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Short answer is no - you will not be able to register with those qualifications.

Since 2014 new entrants need a teaching qualification including those in Further Education sector. It is a part time 2 yrs course (details on teaching council site). If you were already ' in the system' prior to 2014 you would not need this qualification.

However - I would still ring the Teaching council up to double check as you might be able to be backdated as you say you have 2 years experience - hard to answer this without knowing all the details regarding contracts /hrs etc. You could make the point that you are not a new entrant as such - so can be registered under the old system where an official / particular teaching qualification from the list was not required.
