Does anyone know about the mumps outbreak? 16 boys in Kierans have it and a couple of people I know had it during the summer.

Is it because these boys weren't vaccinated or if there was a faulty batch.

The mumps part of the vaccine gives about 85 to 90 percent protection (I think). Certainly doesn't help your chances of avoiding it if there are loads of people who haven't been vaccinated.

Sadly there's been many parents during the last two decades that have listen to the anti-vaccination crap and have decided not to vaccinate kids, this is likely a factor
