Selling by Post

This might seem silly questions to ask but I'd like to know the proper procedure to follow

Didn't originally say I'd sell by post, got good offer so I'm considering it now. I'd obviously have to insist on payment up front, by PayPal maybe ? Would this maybe leave me open to a future paypal dispute even though I sent the item, should I insist on a cheque or bank transfer ?

Also since an ipod is fairly delicate what would be the best way to post it, would it be best to use registered post, and who would pay for the post, when the ipod is only worth €70.

Many thanks to whoever can answer my silly questions :)

Not silly questions at all :)

From Adverts' POV you should of course receive payment before despatching your item. Postage costs should be borne by the buyer unless you agree otherwise.

Your other questions might be best answered by the good folk on Online Buying & Auctions so moving the thread there from Talk To Adverts.ie

Bank transfer is safest for you. If they want to pay by paypal only ship to the registerered address of the paypal account. When you post make sure that it has tracking and delivery confirmation. Assume the other guy is trying to scam you and act accordingly.

Has the buyer mentioned where they are based?

I've given her my b/a details and she says she made the transfer this morning. She's AIB, I'm BOI, in my experience this can take at least 3 days to go thorugh. We split the cost of the parcel, which i suppose is fair enough

I mostly use paypal when selling, a couple of cases I use the Me2U app from AIB.

On my listing I have that buyer pay for postage or collect. When posting if the item is over €40-€50 I would recommend post by register post or parcel motel.

Also, if you're not using Registered Post, I'd recommend getting Proof of Postage when you bring it to the post office. It doesn't cost anything, and if it does happen to get delayed or lost in transit then you can prove you did post it
