Teaching accountancy/bookkeeping

    Hey all!

Random question - I'm a qualified accountant employed in practice but I'm really interested in teaching evening courses in accountancy/bookkeeping.
There is a local Institute of Further & Higher Education in my local area along with other groups who run such courses but I was wondering do I need any special qualifications to teach? How would I get my foot in the door to one of these places to let them know that I am interested?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just sent my CV into the colleges with a cover letter looking for part time hours. You could be a bit late to the game at this stage of the academic year. I sent mine off in July and had hours lined up for September (a few years ago now)

They will usually ask you do a 10 minute presentation at interview stage.

You don't need any further qualifications when applying to private colleges, however if you are looking at public colleges you should be attempting at least a Masters. If you have an interest in the area of teaching it would be advisable to consider studying for a Masters in a relevant subject area, if you don't already have one.

Thanks for both your replies. I actually have a Masters in Accounting also so this should stand to me also.
Really appreciate your replies as I couldn't find information anywhere detailing whether I needed further qualifications.
May be too late for this year but I will send my CV around different places asking for part-time hours just to see what a response I get. If nothing, then I can try again next June, just before college term starts again.
    Thanks again!
