I tried posting this over in AH to get a quick responce but the thread got locked.
Well basically I got offered a couple of evening work this week because of a business being really busy and a lot of the staff having taken days to attend the event. This was off a close enough friend.
However my father is under going a pretty serious operation this week(He'll be okay in a few weeks/once everything goes grand) I had planned on going with him to keep him company/my mother during the time he was in hospital. He might also need help in the coming days on the family farm/days after.
    So, what should I do?

Be there for your Dad. Your friend will understand and if they don't they're no friend.

Who is more important? Your friend or your dad? If you were in your dads position what would you want him to do? You would want the company and appreciate the time spent with you so there is no confusion IMO.

Go be with your dad as you will remember this time with him but you wouldnt remember the time when you did a bit of work
