stayed in a hotel last night and it had the softest linen ever. what made it was there was some fury sheet thing in between the mattress and the fitted sheet. forgot to pull up the fitted sheet before I left to check.

what could have been put in between the fitted sheet and the mattress

Absorbent layer so the mattress doesn't become crusty.

    Def some memory form!!

Either that or a dead cat - both equally as comfortable

Probably an old fashioned draw-sheet used in a lot of hotels and nursing homes to keep the mattress protected from sweat and small amounts of leakage.

Or an old wollen army blanket

memory foam mattress topper is very warm and makes you sweat,it could have been a sheepskin mattress topper and they are cosy.

not all of them, the good ones have perforations for air circulation. at least the one I am sprawled on at the minute does and I testify to its comfyness.

    A mattress protector

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

You can buy feather mattress toppers that are about 3 inches thick. Much cooler than most of the memory foam efforts and nice and soft to sleep on.

I hate when you go to a hotel and you don't know which layer to lie on and which to lie under.

Which is why I usually sleep in the bath.

Mattress protector of some description. Possibly a woolen one.

Featherbeds also give for a lovely comfy night's sleep.
