Different types of Trek 3500s?

I'm looking to offload an old Trek 3500 at the moment, but researching for the ad I noticed that the images I'm seeing online look different to the the one in my back garden. The trek website has this one - http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/mountain/sport/3_series/3500/ - which has suspension & stuff, but the one I have (16" frame) just has regular forks.

I don't want to misdescribe it in the ad, so can anyone advise if there were different versions, or if the suspension was only added after a certain year, or what?

The bike has a pretty clear 3500 up the back of the frame, so it's definitely a 3500.

    Thanks,

    z
