Hi blonde 10, just a question, why are you moving away from a blonde bull. Are you going too blonde between the blonde cow and bull. Only asking because seriously thinking about going down the blonde bull route for export type calves

I originally read this post earlier on today and did not reply as I was wondering and thinking why this person would feck up his cows by using a CH bull.
I will quote something that I heard in the factory - "we don't get paid for the colour of their hair, we don't get paid for their heads and we don't get paid for how thick the bones on the legs are"
If I was in your position, I would stick to a Blonde bull as a terminal sire. They have more length than other continentals which equates to Euros on the factory floor in your pocket.

In fairness can't fault the blondes at all,it's just when we got into suckling a few years ago,our blonde cows were first cross from a dairy herd so I wasn't going to purchase a bull at all we tried ai it was ok but a bit of a pain with repeats so I went to see a guy that had blonde bulls used on charolais heifers only problem was the heifers hadn't much milk,so bit the bullet bought a blonde with good maternal figures and also easy calving he's only 5% calving difficulty then keep his heifers and go with charolais after that...so here I am?

While on a visit to France many years ago I learned that Charolais breeders used Blonde D'Aquitaine as the first sire for heifers as they are easier calved.
Midatest is a good site to have a look at.
