I'd think that newfound affluence and an increase in household disposable income (and access to cheap credit) drove some of it.

I hate when people say 'foreigners' are better looking than Irish people, like its so not true. Theres attractive and unattractive people in every country and everyone has different preferences as to which races and ethnicities they find most attractive its just so annoying when people call irish people ugly. How could a whole country be ugly.
