Does anybody have any feedback of recent bellinter house weddings? We're looking to book but have a few reservations and just wondering what other people's experiences are.

Edit, this isnt a rant about your personal choices or an attack on you, I just really hated the place.

Funny, I just had a discussion about ballinter house with a friend of mine who is a wedding band member.

was at one wedding there not very long ago and I think its a kip, Dirty with mismatched furniture. The beer is stupid expensive, like 7 quid a pint. When they brought out late food, some of it was chips in faux newspaper cones. Only people in the immediate vicinity of the main hallway got any. When i went over there wasn't any on the table, only cheeze and ham pancakes things. My wife doesnt eat ham. I asked the waiting staff to get me and my wife some chips and they said there was none left!! Fcuking chips like!! Ended up getting a cheeze sambo made up for her. Also the layout is ****e, the area for dancing is tiny, its basically just a smallish room off the main hallway for the band and dance floor.

Now my friend, he doesn't actually disagree but he does say that the mismatched furniture and all that does attract a certain type. He also says the place costs a pretty penny so it attracts people who think rundown manors with bad furniture is hip, cool or whatever people refer to themselves these days when they like that sort of thing.

So yea, if you have lots of money the wedding band will be happy to take it, your guests will not get well fed and wont be comfortable and will spend a fortune at the bar, but you know, someone will know how much you paid to have a wedding there and be impressed. Maybe one or two of your guests.

It's not the easiest for a band or dj to get a busy dancefloor when the wedding crowd are split between three or four rooms and the bar is furthest from the dancefloor. That said, I've had some good nights there and stayed there with my wife twice and really enjoyed the food in Eden and the rooms were lovely. For similar vibe but a bit more functional, I would recommend you to consider Trudder lodge, Angler's rest, Glebe house, the Millhouse.

    Hi Ya

I was at a wedding in Ballinter House in June.
    Short version,
Food was very good, drink was very good and not a complete rip off but the building was falling to bits with very uncomfortable seating. Shabby may be in fashion but it was not shabby just old and crap.
If its a small wedding say less than 60 people and the price is right go for it with your eyes open, any more than 60 would be a bad idea

    Cheers and goopd luck

Wasn't at a wedding there but viewed the venue. Was shocked by how overpriced it was, I didn't think it looked worth that money.
I agree, shabby-chic is en vogue, and so places like this may fill that niche market. My OH aptly said that it's very cheap to get such a look, as all you've to do is buy up random bits of old-ish furniture, and because there isn't a style going as such, it'll all just fall in to that shabby look.
I think the building from outside looks beautiful, but I didn't like the cellar dining area nor the marquee, as that just loses the atmosphere if you're going for a manor in the first place.

I haven't been to a wedding there but have stayed there and found it very grubby / dirty. The seats in the common areas were manky.
