Hi looking for the above info for someone who will be leaving school in june aged 17 so not a mature student.
Do u need to do a third language to qualify?
Hoping to teach History, geography and possibly english.
How many points are needed to aim at?
And lastly which are the best colleges in Ireland to apply for. Will qualify for a grant.
A lot of colleges look for a third languge not doing a third language.
Is there lots of employment also re primary school teaching in Ireland?

SORRY FOR ALL THE QUESTIONS BUT ALL ARE RELEVANT AS THEY ARE TRYING TO DECIDE RE COLLEGES.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR READING ALL INFO APPRECIATED.

In primary you have to teach everything just just history, geography and english.

Marino, St. Pats and Mary I do specific primary school teaching courses, if you look them up you will find out if you need a third language.

No there are very few jobs in primary teaching, hundreds of people apply for a single job, may only be a 6 month maternity leave jobs are scarce

"Hoping to teach History, geography and possibly english."

In primary , you have to teach all of the 11 subjects ,you don't just pick and choose subjects.
    Have a look at ncca.ie

I'd suggest you have a look at this thread re employment:http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057293655

Teaching jobs are still be done through JobBridge.
Some comments below from educationposts.ie on the job situation:
I'm 6 years qualified and survived on subbing and maternity leaves, but I'm not sure I can stick it out anymore. Too much uncertainty is not worth it.

This is my fourth year out of college and I have no job for this year.

And that's only a taster. I think the 17 year old needs to think VERY long and hard about going into teaching at this time.

    is one option.

You could do an arts degree and a teaching post grad either.
