    Hi,

My wife's contract with 3 is coming to an end and its upgrade time. Her S3 has had many falls, and she generally doesn't like the size of it.

What are the best options for a smaller phone. The choices are quite simple when screen size isn't an issue, but do any of the manufacturers replicate the specs in a smaller package. We want to upgrade with 3, so that will limit options somewhat.

Look for the z1 compact or the famous moto g.

The Z1 compact is an option with three, and seems to have good reviews.

Had looked at the S3 mini the time we got the S3 and it seemed to have mixed reviews.

Moto G is a good opinion. It has a 4.5 inch screen(although it seems a small difference compared to the S3(4,7 inch screen) its a huge difference when its in your hand. The moto G now comes in 4G. Its a good value phone for its price. The only flaws is that the camera is not the best. But other than that, its an amazing phone for its price. You can buy it unlocked from amazon.co.uk so your wife is not locked to any networks and can get 48 if she wants

    S3 mini?

No it's a terrible phone, has no parts in common with the S3, just is marketed on its good name.

Go for the Moto G if it's not too big

There's a Sony Xperia Z3 compact on the way so may want to hang on to see what becomes of tht.

Have a look at the galaxy alpha, I've just upgraded to it from the s3 and loving it so far. Feels smaller to hold than the s3 but screen size is very similar, I think it's a much nicer looking phone also.
