Now £39 in Currys UK. Bought one myself yesterday, cracking little speaker with a big sound.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,089 ✭✭✭paddydriver

Now down to £39 at the Amazon link but says 4-6 weeks. Commonly it will come in a lot quicker than that.

Sterling is a right kick in the stones these days.

    Both the currency and Raheem!

Curry's/PC world is 60e. It would still be a bit cheaper from Amazon but less than a fiver once you take conversion fees etc into account. I might pick one up there .

Got one of these in Curry's back in November for €49.
Great sound. Sturdy. Long battery life. Really easy to use.
One of the best bits of tech we have in the house at the moment.

Great little speaker. If you're reading this and are in two minds, go for it.

Picked up this speaker today in Currys for €59.99. Tried it out there this evening - dayum!! For such a small piece of kit, it packs a fair size punch, very impressive :)

Thanks OP. Mine arrived in post this morning - worked out at €54.63 with stg conversion. Just had a little play around with it there and very impressed by the sound.

What was that on £? The cheapest I see is £35.49 used, while a new one is £39, which works out at €57.39? At that price I'm better off buying from Currys.

I think myself and one of the other guys on here got the last ones at £32.

I should have added in my previous post - this speaker is excellent. It packs a fair punch for such a small device. Battery life is excellent. I've used other speakers like the JAM but this is far superior. Highly recommend it, especially at 50/60 EUR, well worth it.

Collecting mine from my parcel motel locker after work. I'll report here with a mini-review :)

Thanks OP I got one from Amazon as a birthday present for my young nephew.

As an alternative: I had a voucher for DID so picked up this Sony SRS-X2 last week for €70 and I find it good as it has 20 watts.

I just picked mine up . It's a good chunky piece of equipment. Reassuringly weighty if you know what I mean. I took it out of the box, turned it on and paired with my phone; all in a few seconds really.Turned on Spotify and played Chateau Lobby by Father John Misty and happy days!:D
    Great sound, it really is.
It comes with a nice case as well; with various plugs for different countries. US/EURO etc..
I'm very pleased with myself anyway.
Thanks again OP for highlighting this. I can safely say it is,indeed, a bargain!

If any more praise is needed, I can vouch for the speaker! Amazing sound from such a small speaker, easily filling up the room. I guess next is me selling my Creative D100 that I picked with the help of Bargain alerts.

When will this hunt for new, better, etc. stop? I don't know if to thank or damn this Bargain alerts forum

I guess I'll just say a big thanks!

PS. Do any of you know how a phone is charged from the speaker? I did read on the web that is possible, but no details are given.

Thanks for the insightful opinion which I recon is based on the first-hand experience with the device.

Paid £35 for mine from the warehouse, it arrived yesterday and it's a dud :( It's not getting any power, turns on for a second and goes again. have tried a number of cables so it's not that. Raging because I've been after a bluetooth speaker for an age, was saving for the Bose mini but after seeing this bargain alert I jumped at it. They are gone back up to £59 now and I don't have the option to exchange only receive a refund.

KitSound Hive Bluetooth Wireless Universal Portable Stereo Speaker with 3.5mm Jack Compatible with Smartphones,

Have a look at this little speaker. I got this probably 10 months ago. Great little speaker. Good battery life. The only downside it's not very good for movies as there's a low pitch buzzing noise at low volumes, but perfect for music.

Did you chance your arm with customer service? I find sometimes sending an email stating your case (eg saving up, really wanted this make, etc) Amazon will go out of there way to help?

I got one in currys last week & it's a grand speaker for the €€. But I also have a Bose mini soundlink for the last 6 months and the sound from the Bose is as expected, far better. If I was you I'd take the refund & keep saving for the mini. :)

Or try a chat session with customer service. I've found them very helpful in the past, even for things that were out of warranty

All things considered the JBL is a far better bargain than the Bose would ever be in my opinion. Having played with both I preferred the JBL and its better features, seemed more robust too and much better price.
But if price is no object then the Bose would win

Checked out the JBL in currys but got the Sony SRSX3 in the airport for €90 instead. Well worth it if you can stretch to it

I've been following this thread with interest even though I wasn't on the market for one of those speakers before - I just like clever gadgets.
Passing by Dixons in Gatwick earlier this week I had an episode of impulse buying when I saw the Flip 2 for £37 (€52). What a great little device!
