Feel too full jogging.

    I'm new to jogging (last 10 weeks).

    I jogged 6k last week at 7.30pm. I had eaten 2 scrambled eggs and 2 slices of soda bread toasted at 2pm. This morning I ate a banana and drank a coffee at 9.15am. I went for a 6k jog at 11.15am. (I am still very slow - 6k in 40 mins.).

    My problem is I can taste the food I last ate as I am jogging and I feel my stomach is too full even after letting such a time go by. I thought people eat something small 2 hours before a jog - I know I have to eat something.

    Anybody else have/had this problem or know how to stop that feeling - do I just drink some fluid and not eat??

    Everyone is different, so trial and error is how we all learnt what works best. There are no rules when it comes to this. You just have to work out what suits your digestion system .

    I'm similar. I seem very sensitive to a full stomach when running, in contract to the rest of my life where I have a cast-iron digestive system. All protein based food ( eggs, meat) are a mistake, even hours after eating them, they repeat on me when running.

    When planning to run home from work, I have to plan the days eating very carefully.

    You are new to running and your system will get used to it and as you get fitter, you'll be mush hardier in general.

    I used to think I would die without water when running, now I wouldn't dream of bringing water unless it's a heatwave.

    Work out what works for you and most importantly, keep running.

    Thanks Huskerdu, your post sums it up exactly.

    I drink water a while before and straight after - as was advised but might leave it until after in future.

    I do really enjoy it and want to stick at it - it's great for the head, hopefully you are right and I will work it out.
