Salary payout shift from biweekly to monthly

    My employer has shifted from paying us fortnightly to monthly , I got my first monthly payslip and it seems I have paid a Huge amount of tax , is there anything I can do to get a refund ?

    There should not have been much of a change from swithcing from fortnightly to monthly. There may have been a slight difference depending on when the changeover was made - e.g. 5 weeks in the first month but any over payment of tax should be corrected in future payslips.

    To know if you overpaid tax you would need to look at the cumulative figures on your payslip rather than the individual pay period.

    If at the end of the year you feel you overpaid tax you can request a balancing statement from Revenue who will set out your total taxable income and tax paid on this.
