What were the thoughts on Culture Night in Sligo?

We went out before 8pm armed with the Culture Night programme. Our first stop was The Model where we watched some of of Inferno fire show.

Next we went to the Hamilton Gallery which was advertised as having an exhibition 6-9pm. When we arrived (about 8.20pm) it was closed.

Following this we went to the Hyde Bridge Gallery which, according to the official programme, had a visual art event 5-10pm. It was 8.30pm and it was closed.

From there we went over to Osta where there seemed to be a great crowd for the Drink & Draw. It looked like it was a very successful evening there. However, with the Drink and Draw finishing up and as we had no sketching equipment we headed on.

My wife, having lived in Dublin for many years where she enjoyed Culture Night, was very disappointed with Culture Night in Sligo. We understand that Sligo is a fraction of the size of Dublin, but why advertise events if they will be closed early. There were other people wandering around Sligo last night with their Culture Night programmes looking for advertised events.

Any one else disappointed with Culture Night in Sligo?

Well I wish that they do these kind of things like this in the late afternoon.
Anyways Dublin nearly has everything then anywhere in Ireland.

We went to the fire show as well at the 19.45 start time and then afterwards walked down to the performance the Sligo Youth Theatre gave at 21.00. They were excellent I have to say.

Went to the Masonic lodge got the tour and show. Then went to the inferno show.

A lot to get round in a short period. Would have been better to spread it over the weekend. Also noticed some of the activities closed when they should have been open.

That was the main thing I was disappointed about.

The whole event seemed to be squashed into 2 or 3 hours Friday night.
