Doing a bit of research on this and I was told by a jeep converter that my 08 E70 X5 can be converted to crewcab. A saving of €800+ on tax per yr. 2 questions

    1. Anyone know of an X5 converted
    2. Anyone know a reputable conversion company.

    Thks.

You know that you can only use it for commercial purposes if you convert, right?

I think they very much relaxed the criteria for what constitutes a crew cab but at the same time very much tightened up the criteria as to who can tax them as commercials. You'd want to be sure before paying for any conversion.

What work is required? You want to keep the rear seats it seems.

Seen these guys advertising.. Big question to ask is will they provide certification of the converstion, AFAIK this is required before its use can be changed..

You'd need to make sure it meets N1 commercial criteria. This is to do with the passenger seating space vs load area ratio, and the rear door aperture. What these measurements need to be, I do not know.

There's some info on the 4x4 forum (Motoring sub forum) - seems like LandCruisers and Pajero's can qualify but you may need to fit a dog guard (as a bulkhead).

afaik you are only permitted to carry business related passengers, such as a work crew

    Already discussed here:

X5 doesn't have the rear aperture size, but it appears that some are being signed off as suitable.

The roof in the X5 gives a lot of strength to the car by time you pay for conversion you could have bought a real crew cab

Eh? The roof can stay on! It don't have to be made into a pick-up.

Did a bit more research and doesn't seem poss. Although there are companies that will do it for you but your stuck with a 5seater paying 7seater tax
