I ordered something in error from zavvi and tried to cancel it within two hours but due to their poor customer service it was sent out the next day. They have offered a refund if I return it at my expense. The item arrived but I was wondering if I drop it back to the post office and tell them the addressee has moved with no forwarding address will they send it back to the uk?

might they ask why all the other post sent to the same addressee was not similarly returned?

They will probably ask why all the other post has not be returned. Also, I would be concerned would the item actually get there or would it just be held in An Post. The only reason I say that is that I returned a top via An Post to the UK, with the free postage label included. The item never arrived to the Shop and the only reason they refunded me was because I had a proof of postage. You may not get refunded by doing what you suggest as the package may not get there or be delayed and not get there before the return dates pass.

At the end of the day you made the mistake with the order, take the hit and pay the return cost.

yeah I normally would but it galls me that they haven't a working cancellation system like any other online retailer. I can't even speak to a rep online or by phone to argue my case

Unless they state that you can cancel within so may hours of ordering then you really don't have a case. They can claim they run a very efficient service where items are dispatched as soon as they are ordered.

You should have rejected the parcel on arrival , but now that you have signed for it , you need to follow the zavvi procedures .
