Just looking for a recommendation on buying vitamins. Just looking to pick up some vitamins for energy purposes - any thoughts/feedback? Also where would I buy them?

Trials of multivitamins are notoriously difficult and randomised controlled trials nigh on impossible. It is difficult to say absolutely multivitamins are recommended or useless but at about 1c a day for a basic multivitamin it hardly costs "a 5hitload
We do know that many some people are deficient in some vitamins eg Vitamin D, K, folic acid. We don't test for most other vitamins. (Vit k is essentially tested by INR levels). Many asymptomatic people are deficient in these vitamins and therefore supplementation may be of benefit to them. Exactly who these people are is difficult to say.

The latest position in the use of multivitamins can be summarised in this quote from an article in Advanced Nutrition in 2013:
" In the few years since the committee released its 2010 report, several randomized clinical trials showing the benefits of daily multivitamin/mineral supplementation have been completed using supplements containing at least 10 or more vitamins and/or minerals, but there also continues to be some reports that do not find benefit from such supplements."
The jury is still out and will remain out for many years.

A quick google search gets me Tesco multivitamins 240 pack costs €3.65 which is 1.5c a day. However at present they are on a 3 for 2 offer which then works out at 1c a day.

I'm sure with a little searching you can do better than that.

The average Irish diet provides enough vitamins for the average person. However There is evidence for Vitamin D in post menopausal women, taken with Calcium, to prevent Osteoporosis. If you still feel the need for vitamins, avoid those with fancy packaging or TV ads. Vitamins are vitamins no matter how cheap or expensive they are. Go for "vitaminorum" or "Multivite."
