I have looked for the All Ireland Final on BBC1 and 2 but no sign. Is there any reason why they arn't showing the final when they have shown plenty of games up to now?

BBC NI always do the bare minimum when it comes to GAA

I'd presume that the fact that RTE is now available on Freeview in every corner of Northern Ireland means the coverage by the BBC is no longer necessary, or at least it makes justification of the expense of using tv licence money for covering something thats already on another channel quite difficult.

Pretty sure they they only do Ulster championship games, and I've always got the feeling that BBC NI only do so because they feel obligated.

well, its not a new complication seeing as the pay channel Premier Sports had British rights up till last year.

Still, theres no need for them to broadcast when theres no 6 county team seeing as the 100% of the GAA loving population in the north now has RTE.

Eh, as the national broadcaster they have an obligation to show it due to its cultural significance.

They would if it weren't available, but rte is available in every home in Northern Ireland meaning bbc showing it is only duplication.

Just as they have to show live EPL games in England? BBC cover the Ulster championship, simple.

That RTÉ is available shouldn't abe a concern to BBC.

    That's just churlish.

It's hardly like the English identity or bias of the UK is belittled in anyway.

Here's an interesting article on the bbc tendering for rights this year and how the deal came to be what it is.
