I have 20 angus heifers around the 470kgs mark which I want to finish off grass by early November.
Given that there is no grass growing for the past three months I'm half thinking of putting them into the kale now and finishing them on this.
I have 3 acres planted and 45 bales of silage in it.
I would be planning on giving them 5kgs of meal per day along with iodine in the water, any issues with this?

Only thing I can think of is that kale is high in protein, energy is all they'll need in the meal. Barley, maize meal would probably be enough. Are they on meal already? Don't change their diet suddenly by going from grass to kale and meal, introduce the kale over a week and the meal in twice daily feeds. I haven't done it with finishing cattle, just weanlings. I think you'd probably want a decent mineral with the meal too as iodine in the water might not be enough.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
