Coloured shoes?

    Hi all!

Having a bit of a dilemma at the moment!

My wedding is next April, I have my dress sorted and I'm looking into accessories.

My dress is This Loulou dress

I want to have stand out shoes as they're going to be on show all day.

Normally my choice in heel is a skyscraper but I have convinced myself to get something a bit lower for the day so I'm not in agony after an hour!

But any bridal shoes I look at seem kind of boring to me and anything that's a bit out there and exciting seems to be a fecking stiletto.

I popped into Cinders on a whim the other day and tried on the Ella style from Rainbow Club.

    ella_4.jpg

They were super comfy and looked really pretty!

Me being me, I went straight online when I got home and found them on a UK website for half the price. The site also offer a service where you send them a sample piece of fabric and they'll dye your shoes as close as possible to that colour.

It got me thinking, what if I dyed my wedding shoes???

My first choice would be teal as that's what my bridesmaids will be wearing.

I'm just not sure about it. I've told my mum and a few friends about it and they were a bit less enthusiastic than I thought they would be.

I've been googling pictures of brides in tea length dresses and coloured shoes and I do think they look stunning but I can't seem to get the idea of ivory dress and ivory/silver shoes as the norm.

Do you think a teal shoe would look nice with my dress? If not, any other ideas where I could find a standout shoe that isn't a mile high!?

    Thanks in advance guys!

I think you'd def get away with a colour as long as you had the same colour on you somewhere else eg hair accessory/flowers. Otherwise I think it'd look a bit unbalanced.
Love your dress by the way!!

Use the same teal fabric to cover the shoes

I think coloured shoes are a brilliant idea and would work really well. Agree with Roselm that tying the colour into your bridesmaids or flowers would help balance the whole look.

I love this pic of yellow heels matching the bouquet:

And not quite teal, more turquoise?

my sister just got married, wore a tea length dress and wore coloured shoes. Everyone commented on them, loved them and when you look at the pictures, it makes her dress look beautiful without taking anything away from it. she tried on traditional bridal shoes, but they actually made the dress look very plain. the coloured shoes gave it the pop it needed. :)

I wanted these but have high arches and need straps :(
I opted for the Nina from Rainbow Club and painted my toes blue. I had a full skirt though.

I'm wearing a tea-length dress with red shoes. Now my dress is black and champagne but still weddingy :)

Go for it. I love the idea of coloured shoes. I was all set to wear a pair myself, but I was talked out of it by the bridal shop person. I ended up getting normal rainbow bridal shoes and my dress was altered to fit them. I kinda wish I just went with my fave's!

I love the coloured shoe idea, but I'm not quite sure that those exact shoes would be the right style with the fab vintage-inspired dress. The shoes are such a modern design.

My plan is to wear purple shoes, but I have a full length ballgown so they'll hardly be seen. I love the idea of coloured shoes!

I had coloured shoes! I loved them. I got lovely suede peep-toes and beautiful shoe clips to go on them, they looked really special. I got them in a contrasting colour to the bridal party colours, as I didn't want to match them. I had a 50's dress, so I think it looked great! go for it...

Hand made shoes? I photographed a wedding in Cavan where the Bride had some hand made shoes with the date of her wedding sewn into the fabric. Stunning shoes.

I'm definitely wearing coloured shoes with my tea length dress... Either bright pink peep toes (the wedding colours are pink and grey and am planning on pink trim to one of the under layers of my dress) or leopard print because I love leopard print shoes. I'll probably design them on Shoes of Prey because I'm not finding any I like in budget... I am not paying €500 for Valentino shoes no matter how pretty they are.

Yeah definitely coloured shoes with tea length dress! I'm having black shoes with mine but then again my dress is very unusual as I'm having it made but still!!

I think go for it - you seem to love the idea, feck what everyone else things, your day & you are the one who has to look at the photos forever! :)

I'm getting married abroad and the photographer was showing me his pics of other weddings... shorter dresses were very popular (in the sun presumably) and every photo of a bride he had who didn't have a full length dress had coloured shoes! Mainly electric pink or red. I think it looks awesome, and you'll get to wear your shoes again!

I'm considering wearing red shoes with my tea-length dress, not 100% sure yet though.

I'm full length but think normal wedding shoes are a bit bland from what I've seen so I want stunning shoes underneath that are just for me to enjoy and that I can wear again.

Full length also. I paid less than I had planned for my dress, so I splurged on my shoes. I got a pair of dark silver/grey sparkly Jimmy Choos. They are just so gorgeous and perfect and I don't know how I'll ever wear them outside! :D

You cant. Ever. One must merely pose in beautiful shoes. :pac: If you go outside someone probably a man will make you walk on gravel or the grass to pose for a photo. ON GRASS LIKE!!!

Id be an advocate of the coloured shoes too. Have to find a dress first though...

    I know! :)

We're getting married NYE - getting ready in the hotel and walking across the street to the church. Looking at my beautiful shoes, I no longer want to walk across the street! Plus, it's December. It will probably be raining!

I think I need something like this:

I got wellies and flats in matching colours as well...

Imo, "normal" bridal shoes tend to be the most godawful-looking things ever. I had sky-high gold shoes for the ceremony and dinner, and my photographer went into raptures when he saw them, he was like "You have no idea how many rotten wedding shoes I see every year - I fcuking LOVE these."

Then I had a pair of gold & pink skate shoes for the dancing - don't think I sat down again all night after the meal.

I had the Vivienne Westwood Melissa shoes, with the added bonus that they were wipe-clean :D Though I'm pretty sure I just had those little sock liners on my feet once we were past the first dance!
