    Hi there,

It's been over 2 weeks since I attended an interview for a new job, and have still heard nothing back. During the interview the hiring manager stated they were looking to hire for the position more or less straight away and all going well, would like the successful candidate to be in place by the end of September, start of October. Before the interview I was in contact with the hiring manager to arrange a day & time which would suit both parties to conduct the interview, so still I have their email address. I was just wondering whether or not it would be a good idea to drop them a quick email asking about the status of my application or not? Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Definitely! Don't be pushy in the email but just say thank you for meeting with you the other week and that you would be grateful if they could confirm whether this position has been filled or not.

I see it all the time in my office! Go for it and good luck!

    Would something like this suffice?

    Dear XXX,

Thanks for taking the time to interview me recently for XXX position. I'd be grateful if you could confirm whether or not this position has been filled?

    Regards,

Was the interview arranged by an agency or their HR person? That's always the first point of contact unless they tell you otherwise.

It was arranged by the hiring manager themselves, they probably do have a HR department, but I was never in touch with them at all during the process

I would contact whoever interviewed you in the first place.

But yeah, that letter sounds fine. Maybe change "confirm" to "advise" or "let me know" as it just sounds a bit softer and less demanding.

But don't feel awkward about chasing up with them! They want someone who is eager so go for it.

Well, good news, I was offered the job!!There was a delay in getting back to me as one or two decision makers were not around to sign off on it, I'm absolutely trilled!

Yeh, I got a phonecall from them apologizing for the delay, I'd say the mail helped, thanks for all the well wishes!
