2009 Honda Accord - Sunroof Problem

    Hi all,

I traded in my beloved VW Passat today and got a gorgeous Honda Accord 2.2 I-DTEC EX with an electric tilt/slide sunroof.

When test driving it I tilted it and then slide it open and closed and everything was good. However typically on my way home I was opening and closing it (novely factor) and when I got out of it at my gfs house I noticed that part of the rubber seal around it has come off at the rear. I also noticed some rust where the seal should be.

Would this be covered under the 6 month warranty he gave me and if not is it a dear job to remove the rust and put the seal back on properly?

Unfortunately rust around the sunroof is a well known issue on 8th gen accords. I think Honda will only fix it if it is within the 3 year warranty.....

Depends on the terms of the warranty, if you only got a engine and gearbox warranty then you could be on your own. I'd contact the dealer first thing tomorrow though.

its a common problem, the diesel accords in 8th gen guise are not the best for economy but good luck with the motor.

Thanks for that, will be contacting him this morning. Should have really asked him what is included in the warranty yesterday. All I know is that it is 6 months......

There is also a squeak from the clutch which I hope is nothing serious......surely that is covered!!

    Hope I didn't get a mare!!:(

The Accord is 2009 model so wouldn't be covered by the Honda warranty unfortunately :(

the rust on the sunroof and blown front door speakers are about the only two things that i came across when researching buying my 09 accord last year... lovely car to drive but a little heavy on fuel... the EX is a great spec though..

Yeah not the most economical of cars but hopefully if I get the sunroof (and now the clutch) sorted then I can offset the extra diesel costs on having less repairs to do on it......the dealer I bought it off is taking it back on Monday to look at it. Only problem is im in Louth and he is in Wexford
