Quick question - roughly how much would one expect to pay for 4 injectors for a 2003 Ford Mondeo TDCI? New or reconditioned. Whichever is cheaper/safer.

    Thanks.

Depending on where you go a recon injector will cost from €100 ex vat per injector upwards.

I see, I was expecting something like that. I don't suppose you could recommend anywhere? It would have to be a diesel specialist I presume?

    Where are you located?

South Dublin. Its my sister's car, usual signs of faulty injectors - hard to start in the mornings, lots of smoke etc.

Is it definitely your injectors? Sounds more like glow plugs need replacing to me. Is the smoke greyish?

We woul need to know what engine, is it the 1.8? Also mileage, they should be able to do a few hundred k km without issue.
I say this over and over again, don't just immediately jump on the biggest, most expensive fit. Go low tech before going high tech.

2003 would be a 2.0. They are notorious for giving injector problems.

    Well that makes sense then.
I am going on my own experiences where my cmax wouldnt start and the mechanic said all injectors and pump would have to be sent off to be tested and reconditioned, costing me over a grand. Took it to Ford who diagnosed fuel line drawing air and fixed it for a hundred.
Sometimes "oh yeah, its injectors" from a mechanic translates as "I have no idea, so I'm just going to jump on the only thing I can think of to make me sound as if I know what I'm talking about and its not my money anyway"
