What gift is appropriate? A friend (fairly close friend, but not best buddies) is getting married soon.
I am not able to go to it.
What type of present would be acceptable? And what price range?

I really have no clue about this.

    Any help appreciated

Whatever you can afford :) There's no rule for these things.

Personally I'd give cash, for a close friend it would be the same amount if I was attending or not.

They might have a gift list you could pick from.

There's a thread in the Weddings forum that might guide you better.
