    Hi,
I got a letter the other day asking to go to my local office and prove I've been looking for work.

I have no problem with this, but I got to other forms to fill in that don't seem right.
They are asking a lot of questions which don't seem relevant to me since I'm 29 and not dependant on what my family are paid.

They want to know things like how much everyone is getting paid and what they do..
There's also the fact that my family at unemployed as they can just check themselves?

Do they have a right t be asking whatever the hell they want once their paying you?
They also want to know if I have any money saved and stuff. Why? Its not a new claim I've been on welfare a few years now.

Do I really need to declare if I have x amount of money in the post office or 20 saved towards Christmas in the bank?

My friend says they won't know unless I say.

With regard to your own financial details - yes, you are in receipt of a means tested payment & therefore subject to a means test. Bear in mind that you are allowed to have a certain amount of savings before your payment is reduced, but you also have to bear in mind that you have to provide relevant details in a truthful manner. If you attempt to deceive DSP you run the risk of the deception being discovered.

    Capital Weekly means assessed

    First €20,000 Nil Next €10,000 €1 per €1,000 Next €10,000 €2 per €1,000 Balance (€40,000 +) €4 per €1,000

As regards the other details they are requesting - it's got to do with benefit & previlege. This is a calculation made by DSP to judge the 'benefit' you receive from living in your parents' home. This rule does not apply to you if you are over 24 years of age on Jobseeker's Allowance or where a married/co-habiting son/daughter is living with his/her parents.

Put ''N/A - aged 29'' in the relevant sections or leave it blank & ask why they need the information when at your meeting. Your parents PPS numbers may be enough info to supply.
