Can anyone tell me what it like to work with Boston Scientific. What are the Process Operator Roles like (is process operator the same as Process Tech & Production Operator).

    What are the hours like?
Does the company offer any benefits? (pension, health insurance, gym ... anything like this)
What is the pay like? (per hour, per week, shift allowance)
Is there any opportunities to apply for other jobs within the company (get permanency, climb the ladder).
what's the work like? (is it just manual work or looking after an automated production line)

if you have any further information to add, please do.

    Thanks

Worked there as an engineer a few years ago. I liked it there actually - found it a nice place to work.

Maybe things have changed since so all the information I have below could be completely out of date, but anyway

    What are the hours like?
It varies depending on what area you're working in. They stagger them to avoid everyone coming in / going for lunch at the same time. no night shifts when I was there I think the earliest production area started around 7AM

Does the company offer any benefits? (pension, health insurance, gym ... anything like this)
. No gym onsite but subsidised canteen which is decent enough. There was health insurance as well afaik but this didnt apply to me as i was on a temporary contract

What is the pay like? (per hour, per week, shift allowance)
Going rate I guess. No shift work when I was there.

Is there any opportunities to apply for other jobs within the company (get permanency, climb the ladder).
    Dunno.. probably is though

what's the work like? (is it just manual work or looking after an automated production line)
The product builders worked on production lines, but they weren't like the conveyer belt lines you see on TV - how it's made or whatever - it was in a cleanroom and the product moved from work station to work station along on benches. The PB would be at their station and have their designated job to do on the product when it arrived to them. It would arrive one at a time or in batches, depending on the product in question. Fairly repetitive work I guess but not strenuous or taxing by any means. you could listen to the radio and talk to people and nobody on the lines looked very stressed to me. Big emphasis on product quality and adherence to good manufacturing practices, naturally enough.

You don't think €12/hr is well paid for a line operator?

    How much were you expecting?

€10.50/h for day shift and €12.50/h for evening shift. it is poor. that's for Product Builders (which is process operators). How are you supposed to live on that. after tax u will only take home 360euro a week (39hrs).

Thanks for your help sky king.

I Have another question, anyone else know anything about working in Boston Scientific and getting internal promotion with in the company.

I am working away at the moment in construction, but wanna get out of it and get a more permanent place of work and hours. if I was to go for product builder job, I would be taking a big hit on wages, but if I knew there would be a good chance to get internal promotions within Boston scientific I might take the job.
