With the ongoing Greyhound dispute, and the greater issue of how we have all been nudged into paying substantial Refuse Collection charges since Local Authorities shrugged off their responsibilities this advisory from Greyhound might be worth reading.

I know many areas of Dublin have Waste Collection services supplied by small "entreprenur" operators who charge a simple flat fee per bin to collect and dispose of the waste.

It looks rather like these services have become a little TOO popular, perhaps even threatening the "Commercial Success" of the larger, better connected operators.

So,it's not surprising then to see the Dept of the Environment riding to the rescue of the "Big Boys" with it's latest dictat....

And,by golly, they're going to Legislate against it too.....It's competition Jim,but only as we Irish know it ;)

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

Shawshank style, I go into the city centre each day and throw small bags of rubbish into public bins here and there as I go.

By the end of the week, after 47 trips to the city, my peddle bin is rubbish free.

    They'll never catch me, see.

Lidl have large bins. 40 yards from my front door. I believe in German efficiency. I like to watch them being unquestioning and efficient.

I generate quite a bit of rubbish so smaller bins are no use to me.

Suppose you just drive up a country lane and dump your refuse in a ditch?

Puts rubbish in car, pushes car up lane, inserts in ditch. Followed by lit match. Ring insurance peoples.
