hi guys, hope ye could give some advice on this. My Uncle died about 11 yrs ago and I ended up with his rusty massey ferguson 35. I have the old brown logbook with my Uncle's name on it. My query is how can I transfer ownership to my name? I've looked at the relevant state websites but cant find anything that addresses this.
    Any replies gratefully accepted
    Mick

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/travel_and_recreation/motoring_1/buying_or_selling_a_vehicle/change_of_ownership.html

It's further down the page on the above link.

In the case of a brown tax book, it'll be dealt with at the local motor tax office along with a RF200 form, along with the rest.

Simple commisioner of oaths & a dealer to id the vehicle dont know what the form is called but the tax office will give it to ya i had to do similar twice once for a deceased last owner & 2nd time for the last owner being different to who i bought car off & its not a problem!

Amm.. Fill in his name in the book as having sold the tractor, then present at motor tax office.
    Zero rigmarole.
Just make sure you declare it off the road when it's in your name.

They'll be round in the morning waving burning torches and pitchforks! :D

(And isn't it the new owner's name in the book and the former one on the form?)

When I was transferring the name on the lancia I hadn't got the previous owners signature on the form so the woman on the desk told me with a wink to go and get his signature and come back up to her when I had it.
I'd imagine it's quite a common story but she didn't want to partake in anything shady.

thanks everyone - i think i'll try macplaxton's suggestion- letter from will executor plus logbook i would assume would be enough.
Although i am tempted to to follow the "wink" tax lady's idea.

    thanks

Few years after my dad passed away we needed to transfer ownership of two tractors, I just signed his name, posted them in and the transfer went through just fine.. How would they know any difference ??
