    At the minute using wood & briquettes, would smokeless coal last longer & generate more heat then briquettes?

    Short answer is yes. But if your stove is a wood burner then dont use coal as it will ruin your stove.

    Was told smokeless would be ok....is that not true?

    Coal burns efficiently only in specially designed and approved stoves & inserts, and burning it in a wood stove may produce excessive and highly toxic emissions. Coal also burns hotter than wood, and can cause a fire hazard if you burn it in a wood stove.
