Just saw this video on youtube, even though I find the guy making the video a bit loud and ott, his collection is very impressive

Made my think aswell, hardly anything like that in this country we could source. Do Irish people just **** everything into dumps?

watched this the other day, agree with you about the guy. makes you sick when you see the cabs he is just passing by, and trying to decide if a pacman cab is worth 50 quid!

Either that or we're a nation of hoarders. I don't recall much about the arcades here, but there aren't a lot of them left around, and I find it hard to believe that even half of the contents of the ones that closed have ended up in private collections.

Shame to see really. You'd think they'd rather give the stuff away and see it fixed up than pay to have it dumped.

Quite annoying to watch those videos too though, especially when they're debating whether $50 and under is worth it for a cab. I watched the arcade auction episode of the Game Chasers and he gets a Tekken cab for $10. Quite laughable when you think what you pay for something like that here.

I got 11 cabs out of a Barn in cork a couple of years back. they were not in as good condition as those! Didnt i see pics somewhere of all the cabs in the arcade in bray smashed up in a pile in the middle of it before they closed it down?

There was that container too, although they were newer machines, did anyone buy that in the end?

I reckon down around Wexford there is probably still lots of machines tucked away in pub attics/basements/barns.
Though in the boom when property and land prices were sky high, old warehouses/barns/pubs/etc were being sold to developers and anything in them were most likely demolished with the buildings.

Last I heard about that was he realised there was interest in them, got greedy and didn't want to sell them for the agreed upon price.

    Interesting story about the (kinda!)
apparently a member of the travelling community owned them and couldnt sell them.
So he did a deal to store them in that container for a while.
then he fell foul of the tax man and made a beeline for the UK never to be seen again!
So that fella was clearing the site and decided to sell them.

Didn't even have to start that video and knew who you's were talking about!
Seen his pinball videos before, most annoying person.

I didn't realise someone here had got them. I remember one or two people trying to put a deal together, he agreed a price for the bunch, saw the interest and tried to say he had an offer of 1k+ for a few of them, after which interest in them seemed to drop off.

They were all massive games so not really suited to the average collector like my self.

I think if there was a chance someone here bought them... we all know who it was!

Pff, no candies. Burn them all :pac:

Yeah it makes me sick to think that not only do our American collector friends have cabs available like that in their multitudes, they also have massive feckin basements to put them in!

It must be fairly easy (and relatively cheap) to put a decent basement arcade together over there.

Yeah I watch a lot of American basement arcade vids with a strange mixture of joy and almost uncontrollable envy! Saw one where a guy had a Kung Fu Master that he got in a raid for 50 dollars!? One of my all time favorites!? He had a serious collection of cool stuff.
