Dishwasher shorting and blowing the fuse

We have a whirlpool dishwasher which seems to have an electrical fault. If I plug it in, it trips the fuse (ergo electrical problem.)
I checked the connection under the sink unit - it was a bit damp and gunky, so I dried it out, but the unit is still tripping. (It goes on for about 7 seconds- lights come on etc, but then it trips...)
SO, is there a standard something in the unit which generally causes this sort of error?
    Its a whirlpool ADG 7195
Is this guy on to something? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdlVbTXm8SY
