Item from HK delayed 7 months!!

Postie was knocking at this door this morning and I was most perplexed as I had nothing ordered. Turns out it was a sleeve for a laptop I had ordered.....in February!!! :D God knows where it was for the last seven months. Must have been with flight MH370 or summat.

Ah An Post...they're the best (and my brother's a postman so I can't complain or do nowt controversial!)

In all seriousness though what could have happened to it? There's no "mis-sent to Iran" (which happened another time to one of my orders) stickers on it or anything.

I suppose it could be HK Post's fault instead though. Creepy.

Ah An Post...they're the best (and my brother's a postman so I can't complain or do nowt controversial!)

An Post don't have any control over HK post or in the method that HK post use to transfer items to Ireland - so even suggesting that AN Post are at fault is ridiculous and your brother should give yo a good kick for that :)

A lot of chinese places send items by mail boat which even at best takes about 6 weeks - then you also have the issue of badly written addresses and depending that if the scanner can't decipher the address then someone in some sorting facility in HK can - and a squigly "Ireland" can become anything (I've had post go to Norway because of someone's bad handwriting).

So the package has probably gone around the world a couple of times and at each point it is checked and rejected, it gets delayed.

the amazing thing is that it got to the correct address at the end!

Was it Chinapost/EMS Katelyn Howling Sorrow?

  • Just regular ChinaPost. Wasn't registered or anything.

Happened to me a number of times. Nothing unusual.

Why? Mail sent off China goes to a huge storage facility where waiting for available room in airplane's cargo. Sometimes it takes even a month, sometimes longer, especially if parcel falls off a pile and gets "missed" somewhere in a corner of a storage building. :)

Yeah, Im aware of how they get the best rates for their consignments, its just Ive been ordering for 2-3yrs from them and this is the first time several units have all been held up. They reshipped one order with tracking, but as usual that doesnt work.

Just really wondering if there has been some change/incident that would have caused it.
