Kickstarter Crowdfunding Launches in Ireland

According to an article in the IT, from today Kickstarter crowdfunding will be available for raising funds in Ireland.

    http://www.irishtimes.com/business/sectors/financial-services/kickstarter-crowd-funding-launches-in-ireland-1.1928729

As the .ie domain name is in the posession of a particularly cheap looking knock-off site, try kickstarter.com for more information.

Should be interesting to see what types of startups appear from Ireland. I'm expecting to see a small deluge of <diplomatic>very optimistic</diplomatic> projects to appear until applicants realise you still require half a clue before anyone will finance you.

In fairness it's not like similar/equivalent options aren't already available in Ireland..

For example I've seen a fair few projects (good and 'very optimistic') on Fundit:

Last time I looked at fundit.ie, most of the projects appeared to be more arts/community based ventures with the very occasional business. I'm not suggesting there's anything wrong with that, they appear to look after that niche very well.
