Newly sanded solid oak floor getting scratched

I recently got my solid oak floors sanded and varnish by a reputable company that cost a pretty penny!

10 days later we have noticed scratches appearing on the boards. We have 2 dogs that are walking on them, but we have always had dogs and the floors never marked as easily as they are doing so now.

Just wondering is this normal for a newly sanded floor?

It could be down to the type of laquer... Give them a ring and ask. But what id say is - When they're newly sanded and varnished scratches show up as easily as they did befoer hand. They're just easier to see. As it gets worn in a bit more you dont tend to notice the minor scratches as much... My point is that they dont stay as pristine forever.

    Thanks Jimmy for your reply

He told me it was a strong industrial laquer he would be using, that's all the information on got it.

I'm just concerned because before the floor was sanded it took a lot more wear & tear and didn't seem to mark. Now there are blemishes/scrapes appearing everywhere.

    HI
We have reclaimed junkers maple down and give it a light sanding every three to four years and hit it with Ronseal Diamond Coat. We find it excellent and have never ahd an issue with scratching and we have a house dog belting around all day. If you dont get any satisfaction and it still is an issue perhaps giving it a light sanding to key it in about a months time and then a lick of Diamond Coat. Thats an issue with using some contractors, they do an excellent job in sanding and then skimp on the varnish because every euro extra in varnish cost is a euro out of their pockets. I know of two people who moved into new homes and got the same guy to do their floors, one who works with my brother specified the varnish he wanted used and practically stood over your man when it was being done. You should see the difference in the finished floors about 6 months later and the cost was basically the same. My brothers mates floor was streets better.
