"o" key not working on Acer laptop keyboard...

    laptop : Acer Aspire V5 571P

The "o" key on my laptop no longer functions as of 2 days ago. I've removed the key 'cover' and poked about at the underlying rubber button - just in case there was dirt blocking the contact. That hasn't resolved the problem.

Is there anything else I can try - or is it a case of a replacement keyboard?

If the latter, any recommendations on where I can source same cheaply?

There,s a program you can download,to swap keys,
allows you to assign any key to another key ,letter or symbol,
eg assign end key to represent o.
when you press end key o appears onscreen.
Theres also in start ,menu, acessorys,
    an onscreen keyboard,
click on keyboard with mouse, as in a tablet virtual keyboard.

Maybe go into control panel, switch to uk,or usa english keyboard ,
    see does it work.

Thanks to you both. I've tried changing keyboard input language but no dice. I guess the problem must be hardware related.

@riclad : thats a handy work around that I didn't know was possible. Have a bluetooth keyboard for right now to get me out. On screen wouldnt be fast enough and although reassigning "o" to another key could be one I'll use in future, I'm so accustomed to qwerty setup that having the "o" key anywhere else is going to trip me up - and even if I get used to it, it will trip me up further as I work off another qwerty keyboard other parts of the day.

I'll probably order up that US replacement keyboard.

    Initially...."ctrl" & "v" - and paste in the "o"s!

After that, I've been using a bluetooth keyboard - but having a bluetooth keyboard in front of a laptop isn't very ergonomic....

You still think this could be software related? Don't have such a keyboard to hand but how would this differ from hooking up a BT keyboard in terms of troubleshooting?
