Looks like Dublin Coach will enter this market with a much more upmarket service.

If they get their price point and marketing right, it could really hit Dublin Bus and Citysightseeing.

I await the list of Stops.......A fleet full height 11 mtr Tri-Axle Touring Coaches laid atop the current on-street infrastructure will be an interesting experiment.... ;)

Plenty of business (old and new) in the market, however it cannot simply be assumed that any single operator can drop it's new service straight in without having had some form of ruler run over it from the perspective of the City itself.

Will Dualway be required to abandon it's imaginary Stop at Sackville Place ?

Will Dualway be required to remove it's static Ticket Sales Bus from Nassau St.?

Will the Road Train Tour be allocated a suitable O Connell St Platform which does not pose a real danger to pedestrians, motorists and it's own customers...currently it appears to operate on a Wing & Prayer, until it contributes to a fatality.?

City Tours and Coach Tours generally are TOTALLY different from Stage Carriage Bus Services.

As yet I'm unsure whether the NTA,DCC and Gardai actually see BUS & COACH requirements as being inherently different, and often contradictory to each other.

As somebody who has operated BOTH service types over the years,I can state categorically that,if they are to operate SAFELY and efficiently, they require Segregation.

It is not an option to have both service types sharing Stops and/or Layover points, unless you are in the business of conflict.

Perhaps, over the coming week,we will see a flurry of new safety audited Dublin Coach Tour stops, each with plenty of manouvering room to allow for the longer dwell times it's targeted, more discerning, wealthier target market will demand.

    Perhaps.......

    Here are the stops

Nothing new, cruel or unusual there...however,in the City Centre area it duly adds another 11Mtr vehicle every 15 mins with a requirement to access the kerb.

With the vehicles being,as I understand it,new 11 mtr,tri-axle, hi-floor touring coaches this should stimulate the authorities into taking a tape-measure to the locations and asking a question...can we ensure SAFE access/egress to the Stop for Dublin Coach Tour vehicles.

It's all academic I know, but I would dearly love to present the City Manager with a form for HIM to sign, declaring his willingness to accept responsibility for this simple element of his duties ? :D
