RTE News Prem league highlights

    Was watching the news today and was amazed how bad the quality of the prem league goals was.
    First up BT looked like very very low quality SD tv.
    Setanta looked like a dodgy football stream on dial up
    SS1 HD wasnt that bad
    But whats up? Why are they showing them in such low quality?

    Agree with this entirely. Why do they not take BT Sport HD pictures rather than SD ones?

    They use SS SD highlights quite often as well. Strange and unprofessional imo. Looks crap

    I would assume its due to a lack of HD playout facilities at RTE?

    I'm no broadcasting expert, but I assume they have HD playout facilities now that they have both RTE One & Two HD.

    Very few programmes are actually broadcast in HD on either RTE1 or 2.

    I know a lot are upscaled, but the ability to play out is still there afaik

    RTE News Now/ Plus one also dont even look like SD.
