N57 timing chain issue is the biggest bugbear. Not as common as on the smaller N47 engine but the 3.0 litre N57 engine is from the same family so suffers the same issues. Fully documented BMW service history is must.

Any link to the car, was thinking of one of these but they are very thin on the ground and any available tend to ask crazy money or have hefty mileage.
