    Hi,

after a long break, I've decided to dust down my Wii and get a few games out, has anyone got any game recommendations which would be worth checking out? I have a couple of games I never finished, Monster Hunter 3 and Batallion Wars 2, and I'm thinking of picking up Zelda Skyward Sword, but other than that, are there any games people think are worth getting?

    Thanks.

The Mario Galaxy games are ridiculously brilliant. Okami, Donkey Kong, Zack & Wiki, Klonoa, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Super Paper Mario, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Sin and Punishment, the Metroid Prime games, Resi Evil 4. All very good imo.

Thanks, I've played most of the Mario games and the Resident Evil ones. Great fun. Loaded up Monster Hunter 3 last night, forgot how much is involved in that. Sin and Punishment looks good, have to check that out, planning on picking up Metroid Prime as well, thanks!

House of the dead overkill is vile, childish and derivative. Get it! And play till you unlock dual wield.
Haven't played it yet but Xenoblade gets a lot of love
Tatsunoko vs Capcom is a great over the top fighting game and about as good as it gets on the Wii
I quite enjoyed Murumasa The Demon Blade. Its sort of an RPG of Ghosts n Goblins

MAd World If you don't mind a bit of over the top violence. Can pick it up for about €5 or less.

And as I always say for these threads, if you're a Prince of Persia fan, Forgotten Sands is excellent. It's not a port of the other versions. It's especially made for the Wii with new story and powers

Just to add to this; if you can get them, pick up a pair of "Hand cannon" controller pistol grips for the Wii Controller that were made specifically for House of the Dead: Overkill.

The game is ridiculously fun; with a fantastic soundtrack and some seriously cheesy B movie cheeeeeez going on. Best played as two-player imo though.

The Hand Cannon guns are great, but for extended play periods, due to the wii remote being mounted above and in front of your hand, they can feel a little front heavy.

Bought this again recently for €5 in tesco for the collection as I traded it a while back. Super game!

Also, The Last Story and Muramasa: The Demon Blade are worth a look.

Just from looking through my own collection, ones I think are pretty good are...

    Nights: Journey of dreams
    Madworld
    Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom
    The Last Story
    Mercury Meltdown Revolution
    The Conduit
    Cursed Mountain
    SEGA All-Star racing
The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return
    Ghost Squad
    Samba De Amigo

It's a wide enough spectrum of games so hopefully something might spark your interest.

I did, and it's hilariously entertaining. :D The sound track and dialogue are great!

It's a real guilty pleasure game, like a crappy old b-movie, troma movie, or blacksploitation movie that is awful, but it's just such silly fun that you can't help but love it!

I remember it was 2 Wii games that held the record as most violent and most sewaring in a game. MadWorld for most violence and House of the Dead Overkill for most swearing(I guess scripted otherwise it would be any game where you hear random swearing)

Is HOTD: Overkill not a multiplat? I'm almost sure it was out on the PS3 as well.

It came out on other platforms much later.

Ah, that explains it so. I actually got it in CEX a few weeks ago but haven't gotten around to playing it yet, the Wii special edition with cardboard slipcase and a black & white comic. I tried looking for the Hand Cannon but it cost a fortune.

The Nyko Perfect Shot is a perfectly adequate substitute for the Hand Cannon, and fits better with stuff like Ghost Squad aesthetically speaking, or if you go Dual-Wield in HotD:OK, diving across your sitting room onto the couch while blasting Zoms. But you just don't quite feel the 70's right-wing mojo the way you do with that feck-off magnum...

Gunblade NY & L.A Machine Guns is another pair of decent light-gunners. Actually, it's a pretty pedestrian experience 'til you got to Gunblade's score-attack mode, which is far, far, far more addictive and balls-out fun than it has any right to be.

Little King's Story is a go-er if you have ever wondered what a mix between Pikmin, Sim City and Final Fantasy would look like.

€8 plus postage on CeX site.

Kororinpa and its sequel are great spatial puzzlers.
Excite Trucks is still good fun.

COD 4 and its sequels are surprisingly good on the Wii.
