Dreaming of feelings never experienced in real life.

I am having these dreams with very strong emotions that I have never encountered in my real life before, like affection, intimacy, and some other warm, fuzzy stuff I can't even name.

I don't know what to think about it. There seem to be two options: 1)they are just constructs of my mind (those emotions that is) therefore not real and I should forget it and carry on 2)they are popping out for a reason, they can be experienced in 'real' life and I could/should make them materialize.

    What does After Hours think?

Dreams of sexual frustration towards your mother is perfectly normal OP, if that's what you were wondering.

Better off not having them in real life OP, keep them locked in your head.

You've never felt affection or intimacy before? Really?

You're dreaming of making a multilevel connection with another person. We're all programmed to want it on some level, regardless of the wisdom. No man is an island and all that.

Maybe you need a cadaver to vent some of the urges?

I daydream about winning an Oscar for writing an amazing screenplay and then mid-acceptance-speech, just stop talking, run down into the crowd and start ripping famous Hollywood starlet's clothes off. Massive orgy breaks out and a billion people watching all start whacking / flicking themselves off. The Earth, never having had so much orgasmic energy on it at the one time, shifts of it's natural axis path, resulting in Western Europe being around where California is now, thereby giving is excellent weather for thousands and thousands of years to come and we all get rich from the influx of tourism.

    tl:dr

Yeah, I think I get that sometimes.

So you think those emotions are masqueraded urges?
The question is; is it possible to feel the stuff I mentioned towards that cadaver?

Don't think you'll be winning anything for writing a screenplay.

They're just normal human emotions, I wouldn't read too much into them. Maybe you're a little bit lonely and need to meet someone so your emotions have a focus. It's a symptom of being human, that's all.

@fando - I don't think the subconscious can invent things out of thin air. You are capable of those feelings - the dream proves that. Its also a clue that searching for them is on your mind ;-)

Can you manifest them towards a real person? Do you crave intensity? What practical steps could you take to achieve those sensations in real life, (without losing the run of yourself?)

Who do you love, what arouses you? [in all senses of the word]

If your question was frivolous, I apologise for offering a semi-serious answer ;-) - best of luck!

It was meant to be frivolous enough to mask its seriousness.

Well if people can have dreams where they find themselves in more emotionally heightened states than they've experienced, like nightmares, I can't see why thay wouldn't apply to other emotions too. Some nightmares I've had have been more frightening that I ever imagined was possible, certainly a whole other level to any fear or horror I've felt during my normal life.

Just like so many other areas of science, I imagine we have a long way to go in terms of being close to understanding a lot of it. Maybe we never will. There really is nothing like a powerful dream to make you feel completely removed from reality though, especially in those few waking minutes.
