I stopped reading when I saw that it was a Rolling Stone article dated December 2007...

Dude - sourcing articles from the internet way back machine?? It was true for a very short period of time when cost of storage and bandwidth were high. The in the past five years that has stopped being the issue (we are now talking about downloading 4K video!) and in fact we are not entering an era of super high fidelity beyond what 90% of amplifiers and speakers can do justice with. For the purposes of music bandwidth and storage costs are irrelevant. Apple standard lossless is much higher then CD and we are now seeing rereleases with higher definition as special editions.

So, in the present, put your preorder in with Neil Young now!

Not to mention the significant rise in vinyl sales since 2007.

And hi quality mastered vinyl at that. Most of the vinyl pressed back in the day was pretty awful cheap stuff...

Long live hi-fi. I'm happy to pay damn good money for quality and I'm not alone.

A lot of folks out there driving big fancy cars but then you see them skimp on the stylus. Ruins it all.
