I've been taking Ovranette for the past 2 years. My GP told me he's going to have to change the prescription due to a shortage of Ovranette. He's suggesting either Cilest or Microlite. Anyone know which is the most similar to Ovranette? The only other brand I've taken before is Yasmin. I got on great with it but I was prescribed it by another GP and my current GP won't prescribe it.

    Ovranette is back in stock.

The best source of this type on information is and will always be your pharmacist.

First of all, the pharmacist is far better placed than your GP to know what is and is not in short supply and when it's likely to be available again.

Secondly, if your prescription is going to be changed, then (although the final decision does remain with the GP), the pharmacist is a far better person than internet randomers to help choose an alternative or advise which alternative is the closest.

Thanks for the replies. I know there's been shortages before but I've never had a problem getting it so I'll check with my chemist tomorrow to see if they have it and get there opinion on the closest alternative to it if they don't. I'm assuming both options my GP gave me must be a pretty close match but I've never even heard of cilest before.
