So which of these 3 would be the best for a college student. Student has been using an Acer Aspire D260 Netbook to date but it has seen better days.

Main use: browsing, word processing, youtube, connect to TV, netflix, etc... no gaming

    Max Budget: €300

They are all pretty much the same spec:

    Intel® Celeron® Dual Core N2830 Processor (Yes I know not i3, etc...)
    Windows 8.1 with Bing, English
    4GB Single Channel DDR3 1600MHz (4GBx1)
500GB 5400 rpm SATA Hard Drive
    15.6" Screen

    Dell Inspiron 15 @ €249

    Toshiba Satellite C50-B-14D @ €279.99 in Currys

    http://www.currys.ie/Product/toshiba-satellite-c50b14d-156-laptop-black/322563/7.42

Has USB 3.0, Bluetooth, Camera and Ethernet over Dell

    Lenovo G50-30 @ €299.99 in Currys

    http://www.currys.ie/Product/lenovo-g5030-156-laptop-black/326774/7.42

Has USB 3.0, Bluetooth, 720p Camera, optical drive and Gig Ethernet over Dell & some improvements on Toshiba, but battery seems less 4hrs v 6hrs for Toshiba.

    Thought's?

    Thanks!

Dont mind the "Hours" rated. It means nothing as its all done under different loads. All have 4cell packs, all will have ok to poor battery life.

They're all essentially the same thing. Id go in store, find out which has the best panel and then order that online.

In the same boat here. But also have the option of getting the gfs six year old Mac repaired either. The screen is ****ed on it and it's 260 to get fixed. Not a massive Mac fan but would it be better doing that than getting one of the above. ?

In terms of reliability Lenovo. Own an i7 myself. Mine is now 18 months old not a bother on it.
    Then Dell.
    Then Toshiba.

Go on, pay a few snots extra.

The Dell is 219 at the moment. Though I'd check them out in the flesh first. The others have a USB 3.0 port extra, bluetooth, Ethernet, (Gigabit Ethernet on the Lenovo) . The Dell is missing all that.

Be aware that this is an new version of an Atom as in a netbook. Your old Mac might be a lot more powerful even though its old.
