I bought Age of Mythology from Steam last month and I want to reboot my PC because it running slow lately.

If I reboot it, what will happen to my game? Will I be able to re-download it again? What will happen to all of my saved games on Age of Mythology?

    Reboot or reinstall windows?

You can right click on AOM and Backup game files, move it to another drive and put back when Windows is reinstalled.

I would suggest in future partitioning a piece of your Drive and Point Steam to install games there, then each time you reinstall windows you only have to reinstall Steam and tell it where your games are.

You can download steam games as many times as you like.

As Dreamers said, if you have an external hard drive, you can easily backup games onto it from Steam where you can reformat/reinstall your PC and easily install them back onto Steam again. A 26GB game will only take about 5-10 minutes to reinstall from backup compared to a potential hour or two of redownloading.

    Restore to factory settings.

Yeah, I have an external hard drive. I clicked "backup game files" and saved them there. The file size is 1.61GB. Just wondering where I redownload the game, or will I be able to play from the back-up file?

It isn't an option, its a feature. If you get a new machine or format your existing machine's hard drive you can simply reinstall Steam and all your games will appear in your games list once you sign in. Then select the ones you want to reinstall.

Now the only concern is save games. Lots of newer games use the cloud backup service. This keeps a copy of your save game and preferences etc online so you can move between PCs and restore these files easily. Older games will require to find their location and manually back them up.

Forgot about the sves, Suspect correct there.

Find your save games before you do this :)

Also another handy thing is to get windows to save your documents to the partition, so basically C drive is where Windows is. After a few times you will have reinstalling windows down to a fine art that should take more than 10 minutes :)

For extra nerdism.. set up a home Domain with folder redirection to the server so that you never have to backup ANYTHING. When you reinstall Windows, rejoin the Domain and log in again everything just appears where it was :)

if it has a cloud beside the game then it backs up your saves otherwise you will have to locate the save file on your pc
