Boards Photobook 2014 - Interested? (Poll)

Hi all - just a heads up that a discussion thread has been opened for the 2014 Photobook.

To make sure people know that this is happening, I've added a poll here too.

If you haven't heard of the Photobook or haven't been involved in the previous years, it is basically the Boards.ie Photography Forum's annual book, which is published in late November each year, to raise funds for the Santa Strike Force.

Each year, posters in the forum (open to everyone) submit a single photo each (and have great fun trying to pick just one!) and commit to buying one copy of the book. Each book sold raises minimum of €5 for the charity. There is an official book launch held, usually the last Saturday in November where everyone that can make it celebrate its awesomeness and have a few glasses of wine, discussing how great it is

The cost of the Photobook depends on the size (# of pages etc.) and therefore the number of people involved. The organizers try to keep the costs down as much as possible, while maintaining quality. Generally the cost is kept to approx €30-40 max including the donation and postage.

An email address will be provided after payment is collected - if enough people are interested in the book going ahead then a post will go up with more details

Sounds like pressure to take a good photo

What if I suck and have no good photos that are worthy - I'll be dragging down the overall quality of the product, which people will be spending good money on (30-40 euro)..

Do you have to take one especially for it or do people often use their most thanked picture they posted in the random photo thread?

Completely up to you - we have the images on Pix.ie that were in the 2012 book, because we did a print auction of them as part of the fundraising. http://pix.ie/boardsbook/album/455058

Don't worry about choosing a photo - it's what you want to include. What's great about the book is that there are people of all levels in it, who are interested in all kinds of topics. It's a community book and so far, each year has been unique

Ceacg will hopefully be leading this year's book, she is busy fundraising at the moment pushing a Bumbelance but will be back soon to answer any specifics on this year
