I just noticed my cards magnetic strip isn't working anymore. The chip still works, but I'm concerned there is going to be money trouble when I get to Toronto.

I took our Canadian dollars from the bank (as much as they had) what are my options?

FedEx my replacement t card from Ireland to my hotel? Rely on wire transfers? Hope?

which card and for what (bank, credit, debit whatever) ?
surely you'd have more than one as a backup?

anyhow, if you have a credit card then the number will still be readable and usable for online advance bookings and even in person at a hotel or whatnot they can input the number manually.

if its a bank card, go to the bank and make an over the counter withdrawl and bring a heap of euros in cash
if you need them then you can convert over there, if not, then just bring it back with you.

Yep, staff in hotels, shops, restaurants etc etc can still input the number manually. They have a back up systems in place, in case the magnetic strips on customers cars is not working. You probably won't be able to use it in ATM machines though.

Not sure if they will FedEx are replacement card to you though. Maybe it depends on the bank or credit card company, but when my purse was stolen a couple of years ago & I had to get replacement plastic sent out ASAP, it wasn't an option. I had to wait the standard 5 business days to get it in the standard post.
