Has anyone ever done one of these? I think it sounds like really good fun. Do you get really serious people at these? Or a lot of weirdos? Or do you get all sorts?

Would be funny if they actually gave everyone a wrap of speed on the way in. Get the conversation going.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I do a different kind of speed dating, I say "Hello" and then ask would they like to have sexual intercourse, if not, I move on to the next.

Haven't been single for years so never tried it but I like the directness of it

Possibly a bit deflating for confidence if an entire room of women (that have expressly signed up to meet people) reject you though.

God I hadn't thought of total rejection, which would be a real possibility.

I just think it sounds fun, I wouldn't be expecting, or even hoping, to meet anyone for anything serious.

Terrorists have attached a bomb to this date. If you start having fun the bomb arms. If you then subsequently stop having fun the bomb goes off.

I'm imagining a "I reject you and all your works" style rejection.

I've done this about 7/8 times over the past few years. I'm a 30 year old male.

I think it's a good way to meet someone (though I'm still single!). It can be fun, especially if you get chatting to people at the interval and after the actual event. However, it can also be tedious though. While I enjoy talking to new people, talking to 16 new people can be tiring.

One thing that's annoying is that girls usually come in twos or threes, and very often, only one of them is single, the others are there for moral support. The majority of guys come on their own, so it's often a case of say 16 single guys meeting 8 single women & 8 non-single friends.

Also, I went one time to a 20-30 age group. I don't want to meet girls in their early 20s, but was hoping for an even spread across that age-group. Unfortunately, there were only 10 women there that night, and 7 of them belonged to one group - and they were all between 20 and 22, so that event was a bit of a waste for me.

Finally, be prepared to be rejected, unless you're super handsome and/or charming (I'm neither!)

I've gone to events like this a few times and I've had an absolute ball each time. Manage your expectations though, go in with a view to having fun, not meeting someone.

Go for it, you won't regret it !

I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to *speed* around a city, keeping its *speed* over 50, and if its *speed* changed, it would explode! I think it was called, 'The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down.'
